On June 20, swimmers registered for a free 30-minute swim lesson will be checked in and divided into similar skill groups. There will be two sessions at 9:00 – 9:30 a.m. and 9:45 – 10:15 a.m. Learn more and register for Activity 205700 on the registration website.

The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ (WLSL) is a global drowning prevention event launched by the World Waterpark Association in 2010.  The program is supported by leading aquatics and safety organizations around the world and takes place at all types of aquatic facilities from huge waterparks to public pools and swim schools. WLSL serves as a platform to help communities build awareness about the fundamental importance of teaching children to swim.

“I’ve been a swim program instructor at Bend Park and Recreation District for two generations of Bend residents, and I encourage new and returning swim lesson participants to register for the World’s Largest Swim Lesson on June 20,” said Ann Story, swim program supervisor. “We can greatly improve community safety by increasing each person’s ability to swim.”
