Volunteer Project Day – Weed Pull at Shevlin Park

Saturday, August 17 8:00AM - 11:00AM
venue: Shevlin Park

Help with taking care of some of your favorite parks and trails!

Join the BPRD natural resources and trails team to pull weeds, remove trash, close off unofficial trails, and plant native vegetation at several volunteer projects scheduled throughout the summer.

Volunteer at one or both – we’d love to see you.

Saturday, August 17 – Weed Pull at Shevlin Park
8 to 11 am
Volunteers will work with staff to hand pull noxious weeds.

The next volunteer event is:

Saturday, September 7 – Manzanita Trail or Sawyer Park (location determined in August)
9 to 11 am
Volunteers will help BPRD staff with closing off a decommissioned trail section and other work to deter creation of new social trails.

Here’s what you should know:

  • All projects involve a moderate level of effort, much like working in your own yard.
  • Volunteers need to be comfortable working outside in the weather of the day, bending, lifting, kneeling and walking on uneven terrain.
  • Appropriate age for volunteers is listed with each project. Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Volunteers will sign a participation waiver on site. Staff will offer a safety talk and provide any training needed for the project.
  • Most materials and tools will be provided.
  • Volunteers should bring their own water bottle and work or garden gloves. Closed-toe shoes are required.
  • Water will be available for refilling bottles.
  • Some sites may not have access to a restroom.
