venue: Shevlin Park, 18920 NW Shevlin Park Rd, Bend, OR
Help with taking care of some of your favorite parks and trails!
Join the BPRD natural resources and trails team to pull weeds, remove trash, close off unofficial trails, and plant native vegetation at several volunteer projects scheduled throughout the summer.
Saturday, September 7 from 9 a.m. – 12 noon at Shevlin Park
Meet in main parking lot area south of Shevlin Park Rd. (not Aspen Hall).
Volunteers will help BPRD staff with removing vegetation and doing some resurfacing work for existing trail.
Here’s what you should know:
- All projects involve a moderate level of effort, much like working in your own yard.
- Volunteers need to be comfortable working outside in the weather of the day, bending, lifting, kneeling and walking on uneven terrain.
- Appropriate age for volunteers is listed with each project. Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Volunteers will sign a participation waiver on site. Staff will offer a safety talk and provide any training needed for the project.
- Most materials and tools will be provided.
- Volunteers should bring their own water bottle and work or garden gloves. Closed-toe shoes are required.
- Water will be available for refilling bottles.
- There is a restroom available in the parking area.
