Give Play
There are many families in our community who face the challenges of affording to live and work in Bend and finding extra money to pay for essential programs like after-school care, a session of swim lessons or the chance for their children to play on a sports team.
Your donation to Bend Park and Recreation Foundation can help families by providing the resources needed to take part in activities that improve health, increase confidence and independence, and enrich lives.
- $50 supports a session of swim lessons for a child
- $100 provides a month of fitness and swim activities for a family of four
- $150 funds assistance with one month of after-school care for a child
Reducing barriers
Bend Park & Recreation District offers publicly funded assistance with program registration based upon need. In 2021, the district received one-time CARES Act funding that made it possible to serve more families than ever before.
Over the past three years, BPRD has distributed $845,000 in recreation scholarships to individuals with financial need. Financial assistance jumped 55% from 2019 to 2021.
These one-time funds revealed the need that surfaced is still there and the park district is committed to finding ways to continue outreach and support for those families.
The Foundation shares in this commitment by raising private dollars to add to the resources available as funding for recreation scholarships. We step in to fill gaps people might have too – such as additional resources to cover program fees or help with getting the right equipment, like sports shoes, a bike helmet or a swim suit.
