Lacrosse and girls’ softball registration deadlines on March 2
February 24, 2025

Local youth are invited to participate in the Bend Park and Recreation District’s spring sports leagues, and two key deadlines are this week. The deadline to register for the Youth Lacrosse League and the Girls Softball League is Sunday, March 2.
Registration is available at register.bendparksandrec.org or by phone or in person at district facilities. Scholarship assistance is available for registration and equipment needs.
Youth Lacrosse League
Youth Lacrosse League is separated by the following ages groups: first and second grade all genders, Girl’s third to fifth grade, Girl’s sixth to eighth grade, Boys third to fourth grade, and Boys fifth to sixth grade. The season runs from March 31 until May 30. Registration deadline is March 2 at 11:59 p.m. Teams practice twice a week and play an eight-game schedule – all on weekday afternoons.
BPRD provides Helmets, sticks, mouth guards and game jerseys. Participants in the boys’ leagues need to provide their own gloves, shoulder pads and elbow pads. The league promotes physical fitness and teaches participants sportsmanship lessons about teamwork and fair play as well as basic lacrosse fundamentals and game play.
This league relies on volunteer coaches, and anyone over 14 years old who has played lacrosse can apply online to get paid as a Youth Sports Official, employed by the Bend Parks and Recreation District.
Softball League
The Girls Softball League is for ages 6 to 12 and runs from March 31 to May 31. Registration deadline is March 2 at 11:59 p.m. Teams practice twice a week and play most games during the week with a few games on Saturdays.
Participants are provided with uniform top, shorts and socks. Players need to provide their own gloves.
Volunteer coaches
Youth sports leagues also offer opportunities for volunteer coaches. Coaches provide support with program logistics, coaching and mentoring youth.
All volunteer coaches must complete an application, background check, take a concussion training course, enjoy working with youth and be able to create a positive, encouraging recreational environment for all players.
