Public Ice Skate Sessions:

Open Skate: Recreational skating for all ages and abilities; however, children 6 years and under must be supervised by a responsible person 14 years or older.

Hockey, speed skating and advanced figure skating not allowed.

Skate assists and helmets are available to borrow. During normally lower attendance times, activities may include basic skating and/or laps on the outside perimeter and basic figure skating/ice dancing/freestyle on the inside.

Check online schedules before coming so you know what to expect. Sorry, no sticks allowed.

Sunday Family Skate: Open skate for families for only $6/person for ice skating or $5/person (all ages) for roller skating including skate rental.

All children must be accompanied by parent/guardian.

Cheap Skates: Special open skate sessions for only $6/person (all ages) including skate rental on Tuesday nights.

Spring through early fall, The Pavilion has a variety of roller skating sessions and roller hockey activities available.

  • Skatepark: The Pavilion skatepark features are included during Open Skate, Parent-Tot Skate & Play and Sunday Family Skate times – skateboarders and scooters welcome.
  • Roller Hockey: Pickup Hockey, Stick Time, lessons and leagues.

The Pavilion is also the home rink for the Bend Bullets youth inline hockey program and Lava City Roller Derby.

Special Rates and Parties:

Ice Skating Special Rate Sessions: Come skating for a great price! Family Skate, With A Child Skate and “Cheap Skates” sessions are only $6 per person (out-of-district fees apply) including skate rentals. View the schedule for days and times.

Large Groups – 10 or more: School groups and other large groups are welcome at The Pavilion and discounts are available. Reservations are needed for groups of 10 or more. Reservations must be booked 72 hours in advance for special rates. Group reservations are not available during Holiday Skate due to high facility use. Learn more about Parties and Groups.

Parties: For birthdays and other celebrations, rent the party room and bring the gang to skate. Reservations must be booked 72 hours in advance for special rates. Learn more about Parties and Groups.

Out-of-District Fee Policy: Residents who live outside of the Bend Park and Recreation District are encouraged to participate in all facilities and programs. Out of district residents do not pay property taxes that support the district and will be charged an additional 20% for programs and facility passes when making reservations (drop-ins do not apply). If you need help determining if you live inside the district boundaries, call us at 389-7275. We also have a District Map and you can simply put in your address and it will indicate if you live within the district boundaries.

Helmets Encouraged: The Pavilion encourages all skaters to wear a helmet while on skating, especially children. Helmets are available to borrow or you may bring your own. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends that ice skaters use hockey, bicycle, ski or skateboard helmets. If you want to follow that recommendation, it may be best to look for a helmet certified to the ASTM Skateboard standard, F 1492, or even dual certified to the skateboard and bicycle helmet standards. They have some multi-impact capability and more coverage in the rear than a bike helmet.

RENTALS AVAILABLE:

We have traditional roller skates (quads) and roller blades (inline skates) available for rent at The Pavilion. All skates and blades are listed in men’s sizing.  We do not have any speed style skates available for rent.

  • Rental skates available for $3.
  • Roller skates (size youth 7 – adult 14 men’s, with limited sizing in adult 10 – 12).
  • Roller blades (size youth 11 – adult 14 men’s).

Facility Rules:

Deck & Plaza Rules

  • Ice season: Skaters and spectators are not allowed in designated Zamboni travel area.
  • Ice season: Guests are not allowed to walk with skates on areas not covered with rubber matting unless they are wearing blade guards.
  • Shooting, passing, stick-handling, and use of hockey pucks/balls anywhere other than the skating surface during approved sessions is not allowed.
  • Skateboarding, scootering or rollerblading is not permitted during the ice season and only in designated areas during the non-ice/roller skating season.
  • Snowball throwing and fights are not allowed.

General Rink Rules

  • No shoes or boots allowed on ice except unless approved by staff or during curling times.
  • No food, drinks and gum allowed on the rink or rink surface.
  • Skaters are not allowed to carry children or secondary items on the rink (cameras, handbags, strollers, etc.).
  • Skating in a manner that endangers or interferes with other skater’s safety or pleasure is not allowed.
  • Skaters shall be alert to other skaters at all times and yield to slower skaters.
  • Skaters must keep moving. No sitting, lying or resting on rink.
  • Roughness, excessive speeding, skating against the flow or weaving through other skaters is not allowed.
  • No horseplay while on the rink. This includes tag, chain skating, throwing snowballs, racing and intentionally sliding.
  • Hockey sticks and pucks are not allowed except during designated hockey times.
  • Jumps and spins allowed only at center rink (inside blue circle) unless crowd size poses a safety issue. Figure skaters using the center of the rink should be aware of beginners and exercise caution doing jumps and spins.
  • Skaters are not allowed in the player boxes except during program times.
  • Skaters are not allowed to sit on or climb over the dasher boards.
  • No one is allowed on the rink during resurfacing. Skaters may not enter the rink until staff allows re-entry.
  • Guests are not allowed to walk with ice skates on areas not covered by rubber matting unless wearing blade guards.
  • Kicking or chipping holes in ice/rink is prohibited.
  • Skate aids are for beginner skaters or those with a need only.
  • No objects allowed on rink without staff approval.
  • Private skating instruction and coaching is not allowed without approval.
  • Abusive behavior and language will not be tolerated.
  • Protective head gear is strongly recommended especially for young children and beginners.

The Pavilion ice season runs October 28 – early April. Roller skating and roller sports are available mid-April – October 1.

Great for birthday skating parties and more, The Pavilion features an indoor viewing/warming room with fireplace or the outdoor pavilion, making comfortable and fun viewing opportunities and a place to enjoy food, drinks and a celebratory dessert.

  • Party reservations can be made from a minimum of 72 hours in advance. Reservations for the 2023-24 ice season, late October – early April, will be available beginning October 1, 2023.

Walk-in Parties: Sorry, “walk-in” or non-reserved parties are not allowed at BPRD recreation facilities. Our facilities and staff are not equipped to adequately handle parties that are not reserved with us and it can negatively impact other patrons’ experiences. Therefore, no party items are allowed when you participate in a recreation session (no cake, balloons, gifts, etc.). Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!

Saturday Night Adult Roller Jam: Ages: 21 & over
S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night! We’ll bring out the music, turn down the lights and let the big kids play at these special adults-only skate sessions with local brewery on site. We’re talking youthful “skate center” vibes and joy! For Adult Roller Jam lessons prior to the skate session, visit the registration website.

$5 “Cheap Skates”: All ages
Only $5/person (all ages) including skate rental for special discounted open skate session. Limited availability so check schedules. Check schedules for times.

$5 Parent-Tot Skate & Play: Ages 5 & under with adult

The “Other Season”

When it comes to having fun in Bend, The Pavilion offers great year-round fun! The Pavilion hosts roller skating and a variety of sport and recreation activities during the non-ice season including adult recreation cornhole, roller hockey and futsal leagues.

For roller skating opportunities, The Pavilion offers a regular schedule of Open Skate, Friday Night Roller Dancing and Family Skate sessions for roller skating, in-line skating, skateboarding and scootering. In addition, the facility hosts the Bend Bullets youth inline hockey program.

The-Pavilion-Skatepark

The PAC | Ages: 8.5 – 12 | mid-June to end of August

The PAC is a summer recreation center for kids with full-day childcare. Each day is different as you get to choose what you want to do! There are always awesome choices whether you want to ”play hard or chill out.”

We’re talking field trips, climbing the rock wall, skateboarding and scootering, playing water games, stand up paddle boarding, outdoor adventuring, getting into crazy, unique activities, creating art and playing your favorite games. About the Ice Season:

When is ice season? When is roller skating or non-ice season?

The 2023-24 ice season is set to begin Oct. 28 and will wrap up in mid-April. The roller skating or non-ice season runs approximately from April through the beginning of October.

How will weather conditions affect the ice?

Because the ice sheet is refrigerated and protected by The Pavilion’s roof, dasher boards and clear side panels, weather should not impact our ability to build and maintain ice. However, it is an outdoor rink and ice conditions may vary and warm weather can be challenging for ice quality.

How about ice skates?

Rental skates are available for $3 per person or you can bring your own skates.

What do I need to pay to use The Pavilion?

Rock the Ice. Open to curlers of all experience (or inexperience) levels, our leagues give players the chance to learn and hone their skills. Games are played once a week and all equipment is provided. Space is limited, so register your team early!
