In 2001, BPRD and the West Bend Property Company worked together to develop the proposal for parks and trails in the planned NorthWest Crossing development. Lewis & Clark Park was one of four planned parks; the others include Compass Park, Discovery Park, and Rimrock Natural Area.
It was developed in 2004 and the name of the park was included in the development agreement, as it runs between Lewis Street and Clark Street.
